homeWORD has strengthened its expertise in green building over the last twelve years and is known as a national leader in the affordable housing sector for its incorporation of green building practices. homeWORD understands that a green energy approach to building affordable housing saves money over the long-term by reducing annual maintenance, utility, and repair costs. homeWORD has incorporated 3 of the largest grid inter-tied solar panel systems in Montana into its affordable housing projects. They are now working on an evaluation to show how these systems work and reduce costs to their renters through web based monitoring and working with the University of Montana Environmental Studies Program.
